The Miami lived in the Eastern Woodlands cultural region, a densely forested area with warm summers and cold winters. This area starts in the eastern Midwest region and extends into southern Canada and the Northeast region. They get about 40 centimeters of rain each year. The soil in the Eastern Woodlands region is very fertile, but the region supports a wide range of animals, making food in this region very easy to find in the summer. However, especially in the northern parts, in winter it gets really cold and hard to food. The Miami inhabited the central western part of the region, around Illinois, Indiana, and southern Michigan. Being here, the Miamis had hot summers and very cold winters. |
